HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMUNA!

Am 16.12.1995 ist mein, Amunas, Geburtstag. In Deutschland habe ich mir immer vorgestellt diesen am Strand in der Sonne zu verbringen, schließlich ist in Neuseeland gerade Sommer – stattdessen ist es grau, kalt und verregnet.

Hannah und ich starten den Tag mit einem großen Brunch und gehen anschließend in Aucklands Stadtteil „Mount Eden“ spazieren, in dem sich ein großer Krater befindet, der zu einem Park umfunktioniert worden ist. Von oben hat man eine unglaubliche Aussicht auf die ganze Stadt und den Ozean. Später besuchen wir das mediterrane Restaurant eines Freundes und verbringen den Abend mit unseren Mitbewohnern. Insgesamt habe ich einen super Geburtstag mit viel zu vielem Essen, drei verschiedenen Kuchen, schönen Geschenke und – am wichtigsten – der besten Gesellschaft! Verantwortlich dafür ist einzig und alleine Hannah, die alles geplant und sich unglaublich viel Mühe gegeben hat! Mit vollem Erfolg!  

Seit zwei Wochen wohnen wir jetzt schon in Auckland, teilen uns ein Apartment mit Donal, unserem Freund aus Irland, und den Cousins Jasspreet und Emrit aus Indien. Es befindet sich in Auckland City, also direkt in der Innenstadt, und in der Nähe des Hafens. Wir haben beide Jobs und leben uns zur Zeit in unserem Viertel ein, lernen jeden Tag neue Leute kennen und genießen unsere erste eigene WG!

 

My, Amuna’s, birthday ist he 16th of December. Back in Germany I always imagined myself sunbathing on the beach as it is supposed to be summer in New Zealand – instead the sky is grey and the weather cold and rainy.

Hannah and I start my day with a big birthday brunch before we stroll around “Mound Eden” in Auckland. Mount Eden itself is a park on a crater that gives an incredible view over the entire city and the ocean. Afterwards, Hannah and our two flatmates take me to a friend's Mediterranean restaurant where we spend the evening. All in all, I have a fantastic birthday with way too much food, three different cakes, lovely presents and, most importantly, the best birthday Company I could ask for. Thank you so much Hannah for planning it all and making such an effort, I really appreciate it!

We have been living in Auckland for two weeks now. Our apartment which we are sharing with our Irish friend Donal and Jaspreet and Emrit from India is downtown right by the sea. We both have jobs and are meeting new people to explore our area with every day. It is a lot of fun having our first own place!
